Boatscape.com 'streamlines' for upcoming merger

Article Abstract:

Boston, MA-based electronic commerce company Boatscape.com co-founder and CEO/Pres Jay Wilkins has announced that it is streamlining operations in preparation for a merger with another as yet undisclosed company. He declined to disclose details of the pending merger agreement but said only that Boatscape.com is intent on fulfilling its mission to provide value to recreational boaters via the Internet. Features being offered by the online service include Maptech charts on demand and wireless direct-to- cellular telephone, tide and weather information.

Marinas.com buys marina listing site

Article Abstract:

Marinas USA Inc has acquired MarinaFinder.com, which is an interactive listing of marinas on the Internet. According to Marinas USA founder Bob Blumberg, the search capability of MarinaFinder will be integrated with that of Marinas USA's Scituate, MA-based Marinas.com, which provides information on marinas and marine services. He noted that the combined resources of both sites will enable boaters to find more than 4,500 marinas with or without Web pages.

Defender, Boatscape hope to become 'Virtual Yacht Club'

Marine catalog retailer Defender Industries Inc and e-commerce firm Boatscape.com Inc have entered a partnership which will take advantage of Defender's retail experience and large inventory and Boatscape's Web expertise. Boatscape's web site provides an auction format where customers can buy and sell marine goods. Defender's Ship Chandler Store offers new products with the original manufacturer's warranties in an auction format.
