TeleCheck expands to check paying by phone
Article Abstract:
TeleCheck Services Inc., a Houston, TX-based check acceptance service, will now be able to accept checks over the telephone with its acquisition of Quickcard Systems Inc., the Kimberton, PA-based firm that pioneered the service in 1985. The buyout is regarded as part of TeleCheck's strategy to become the forerunner in electronic check innovations. The deal not only expands TeleCheck's marketing and distribution of its checks but also poses opportunities for the firm to create new technology in the electronic check market. Quickcard Systems' Electronic Check Acceptance is currently utilized by catalogers, direct marketers, publishers and other firms that take phone orders.
