Article Abstract:

Lithuania needs foreign investment following the privatization of many of its industries, with 94% of construction industries are now in private ownership. Foreign investment is welcomed by the government who have pledged to repay investors if losses are incurred due to their action. The low rates paid to workers and few available construction projects has resulted in a civil engineering becoming highly competitive. Lithuania has around 3500 companies supplying building materials, with around 70% sold for domestic use.

Country file: Singapore

Article Abstract:

Singapore has an extremely strong economy, even though it is only a very small country. There are opportunities there for UK construction consultants and contractors, but it is necessary to be competitive. Some tax incentives are available for investors, and overseas concerns can set up in Singapore without Singaporean equity. The government is seeking to address rising labour costs through measures including boosting productivity and encouraging higher value-added industries.
