Enjoy it...while it lasts

Article Abstract:

The UK construction industry grew 3.8% in 1997, reaching a value of 52.1 billion pounds sterling. Construction Forecasting and Research predicts slower industry growth in 1998 at 2.9%, reaching a value of 54.1 billion pounds sterling. Infrastructure projects will be hit by falling road building investment, while government budget cutbacks will lead to a fall in social housing building in favour of an overhaul of existing stock. Private housing will see a small increase in 1998, but higher interest rates and lower tax relief will slow down the market considerably by the end of the year.
