Court ruling favors USPS-FedEx deal
Article Abstract:
The US Postal Service's (USPS) air transportation contract with Federal Express (FedEx) has been upheld by the US Court of Federal Claims, which junked the lawsuit filed by Emery Worldwide that sought to nullify the agreement between the two parties. The USPS engaged the services of FedEx to transport its Express Mail, Priority Mail and First-Class mail effective Aug 2001. Emery said the contract did not go through a public bidding process. Emery also has its own separate 10-year agreement with the USPS that would end by 2004.

USPS adjusts to Internet impact both at home and abroad
Article Abstract:
The United States Postal Service (USPS) is adopting new strategies to adjust to the current trend towards electronic commerce. USPS said that the Internet is changing the way it operates domestically and abroad but not the basic postal functions. The erosion in mail volume will come in part from the shift towards electronic bill payments. USPS is also evaluating the current trend in online shopping and direct marketing to protect its diminishing market.
