Article Abstract:
Property developer Holden Trust commenced building the 85-apartment block in Pimlico, west London, UK in Nov 1993. It is due for completion in Summer 1994 and will cost 8 million pounds sterling. Designed by architects Pryse Traynor Partnership and Whitby and Bird, its main attraction is its underground, 100-place car park. This has allowed 2 extra floors to be used for apartments. Planning regulations include a height restriction. The car park has had to be designed carefully as it is above a London Underground tunnel. The site was purchased by Holden in 1987 who refrained from building because of the recession.

Article Abstract:
Smaller building firms need to move into niche markets and offer services such as design and install packages. This will enable them to remove onerous clauses from conditions of contract, and fewer competitors will mean that firms will be able to seek higher margins.
