Image building

Article Abstract:

Young people in the UK generally have very little knowledge about the construction industry. They cannot accurately estimate the number of people employed by the construction industry, for example, and are not aware of the contribution made by the industry to the country's economy. They regard construction as not being a favourable career option, although they view the professional disciplines associated with construction, such as architecture, favourably. The construction industry is shortly to launch a campaign designed to improve its public image.

The Redirector

Article Abstract:

Arup Associates, the multiprofessional architectural division of Ove Arup, aims to help its employees to learn, and encourages them to develop their own ideas, according to James Burland, the company's architect director. He is firmly committed to multiprofessionalism and the economic use of materials, and has been strongly influenced by Sir Philip Dowson, the founder of the practice. He regards himself as simply part of a team, rather than a figurehead.
