Kellogg Marine Supply
Article Abstract:
Kellogg Marine Supply of Old Saybrook, CT, is constructing a new facility in Old Lyme, CT, which would become the company's base of operations by Nov 2001. The 92,000-sq-ft structure would have 26 docks for shipping and receiving. Kellogg also plans to build a two-story corporate office at the facility, which still has an additional 30,000 sq ft of excess space for other purposes. It is a mere six minutes away from the company's present location across the Connecticut River.

Dominican Republic shows a budding marine market
Article Abstract:
The Dominican Republic, which has the highest growth rate in all of Latin America, could emerge as a solid market for US boat dealers. However, a 38% excise tax placed by the country's government on boat imports has resulted in a decline in boat sales. The nation's 800 miles of coatline, the availability of inexpensive spaces for berthing watercraft and an increasingly affluent middle-class, creates a natural lure for the boating entrepreneur.

Yachting on the Yangtze?
Article Abstract:
It is ironic that the a country such as China, which has 2.5 times the number of waterways in the US, could have progressed without a recreational boating industry. China, with a population of 1.2 billion, is only now being introduced to leisure boating. These efforts are being done through such activities as the China Conference, which was held on Apr 24, 1999, and focused on the development of marinas in the country.
