Lillian Vernon looks for Japan Partner
Article Abstract:
Lillian Vernon has decided to freeze its operations in Japan due to the economic and currency crisis in the region. The firm is also seeking a retail or DM company in Japan as a partner to fully penetrate the market. Lillian Vernon states that Japanese market has potentials and a great market for a lot of direct marketing before its economy went sour. In 1996, the firm tested the market by dropping 40,000 packages, which included three single catalogs and one combination of all three. The positive response of the initial test prompted the firm to initiate another test in 1997, dorpping 50,000 copies of its "Favorites" catalog, a compilation of Lillian Vernon's best-selling products.
