MOD backlash hits Mowlem
Article Abstract:
The UK ministry of defence is to make an offer of 7.5 million pounds sterling to compensate contractor Mowlem and mechanical and electrical contractor Drake and Scull for losses of 5 million pounds sterling which the two companies incurred following problems with documents for the ministry of defence's procurement headquarters in Bristol, England. Mowlem is making a new claim for compensation of 65 million pounds sterling, but its net settlement could be reduced if the ministry of defence is successful with a 5 million pounds sterling counter-claim.

15m pounds sterling writ hits MPs' project
Article Abstract:
The UK House of Commons is facing a claim of up to 15 million pounds sterling from US cladding concern Harmon, which is claiming that European Union procurement rules were not adhered to when contracts were awarded for a new 200 million pounds sterling parliament building. The company believes that it will lose 10-15 million pounds sterling because Seele Alvis won a key contract. The latter company's bid was 10 million pounds sterling higher than the price originally expected by the client.
