Internet online companies are vying fiercely to acquire market share in the critical holiday season by resorting to a broad variety of free offers to attract and retain customers. Experts warn that online players especially publicly traded firms may thrive and flourish or die depending on their 4th qtr 1999 financial performances. It can be concluded that some of these companies may quickly consume their resources through their giveaway promotional programs.
