The shape of things to come
Article Abstract:
New developments in structural engineering will continue to reduce on-site labour, with greater use of machine-produced prefabricated elements, according to Ian Liddel, managing director of Buro Happold. The need to improve environmental performance will also have a considerable impact on developments in structural engineering. There will be greater emphasis on combining insitu, precast and hollow-rib elements, according to Peter Flynn, associated at RMJM.
