Playing the market
Article Abstract:
The North British Housing Association is developing homes for private sales in Hull in order to cover less profitable developments elsewhere in the area. The company, which manages 39,000 properties in Humberside, is working with the Hull City Council to obtain private funding for 1900 homes which do not qualify for a Housing Association Grant. 45 properties have been built on an affluent site to provide extra funds for the company.

Watchdog pushes standardised homes: associations will get value for money by building standard units. (Building Homes)
Article Abstract:

This follows a report by the Audit Commission, the government spending watchdog, forming the basis of a Housing Corporation seminar on cost effeciency. The AC found that individual scheme costs still vary widely and that Associations should be more accurate when estimating land costs.
