Pop goes forward valuation bubble
Article Abstract:
A system where the building client pays money into a trust account to safeguard against bankruptcy has been proposed by members of the building industry. However, such a scheme would do little to protect against major losses and, by tying up funds, could reduce the company's cash flow and thus increase the risk of bankruptcy. A more positive approach to preventing business failure is needed. This should include more regular valuations and payment in installments with shorter payment times.

ICC moderates on demand bonds
Article Abstract:
THe ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) has published rules for demand guarantees. A London conference in Nov 1992 discussed Article 20 of the rules which states that a simple demand bond which does not require any documents must be supported by a written statement. Critics believe that the statement is inadequate as it is not open to third parties. Many bankers' lawyers prefer to ignore the Article.
