Recovery position: the health minister who aims to inject a dose of quality into hospital design

Article Abstract:

John Horam was promoted to parliamentary secretary for health in November 1995. He has responsibility for the NHS estates and is concerned about raising the quality of architecture and design in the National Health Service. He wants to see the vision in the guideline document Better by Design implemented, and he feels that hospitals present a great challenge to provide a balance between the high-tech and the human element.
