The Millennium Dome is the central feature of the proposed 550 million pound sterling Millennium Exhibition in Greenwich, United Kingdom. The dome is of an innovate design and will cost 50 million pounds sterling to build. The dome is seen as a temporary structure and is still at the drawing stage although tender documents have been submitted. The whole exhibition is due to open in only three years time on the 1st of January in the year 2000 yet construction work has not started.

Investment of 36.5 million pounds sterling has recently been made in the renovation of the eastern half of Smithfield meat market in the City of London. This is now a three-storey stack of modern, hermetically sealed compartments, and thus ensures that the facility complies with European hygiene regulations. There are now plans to renovate the west hall of the market, bringing the total refurbishment cost to 68 million pounds sterling.

Over 12 million pounds sterling has been spent on the new Glasgow Caladonian University health faculty building. The architecturally designed building incorporates metal, glass and a rounded drum-shape atrium. The final cost of 12,143,706 pounds sterling was increased by the needs of the health faculty to provide realistic health suites and the central location of the university.
