Strawberry fields forever
Article Abstract:
Building Design Partnership have designed the three phase redevelopment work at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon, England. The brief for the architects was to keep the feeling of an English country garden whilst providing a sporting venue for the annual tennis competition. Some work has already be carried out, such as the creation of a terrace area around an outdoor video screen and a new No 1 Court. It is hoped phase two will be completed in time for Wimbledon 2000. Some 30,000 spectators visit the site each day for the Wimbledon tennis competition.
