Homebuilding awards where entry brings it own rewards
Article Abstract:
The US National Association of Home Builders supports the annual National Housing Quality Award. Past recipients of the award found putting in the additional work to win the award had a very positive effect on their businesses. Participants in the competition have to fill in a comprehensive questionnaire which covers a wide range of activities, such as customer care, planning, quality of work and relationships with suppliers. The judges, who are all involved in the industry, report back to the company. Many of the participants have found the feedback very worthwhile.

How va...va...voom drove supplier failures down by 99%
Article Abstract:
The introduction of partnering into the UK house building industry will help improve the quality of work, as demanded in the Egan report on construction. The house construction industry will need to tackle skilled workers who will often be against the standardization of their work. The car industry has already faced these problems and has been able to improve quality and cut costs each year by working closely with their suppliers. They have all realised a better product is profitable for everyone and satisfies the customer.
