Plan speaker
Article Abstract:
It is vital that the new UK government gives attention to effective strategic planning, according to Royal Town Planning Institute President Tony Struthers. He believes that it is essential for economic and physical planning to be integrated, and is in favour of regionally elected assemblies with responsibility for tasks such as producing development strategies. He is not yet certain whether effective planning will be undertaken within the newly reorganized local authorities.

Planning
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom Liberal Democrat party promises to make the building developer justify development plans if it wins the forthcoming general election. Its position on planning is more outgoing than Conservative and Labour party policy. The Conservative party has indicated that it will continue to encourage private investment for poorer housing developments. The Labour party plans to do the same but is vague about its methods of implementation.
