Twin Disc sales climb

Twin Disc Inc., a drive systems manufacturer based in Racine, WI, posted $202.64 million in sales for the year ended Jun. 30, 1998, up 7% from $189.94 million in sales in 1997. Likewise, the company achieved $9.36 million in earnings for the year ended Jun. 30, 1998, up 21% from $7.73 million in earnings in 1997. Twin Disc Chairman and CEO Michael Batten expressed some concern regarding business situations in fiscal 1999, adding that the company's backlog of orders to be shipped over the succeeding six months declined to $54 million, down 29% from the $76 million posted in June 1997.

Lou Holtz has been appointed as board director at fishing tackle manufacturer K2 Inc. Holtz was head coach of the University of South Carolina for the past two years, and is the author of the best-selling book 'The Fighting Spirit.' K2 Chmn Richard Heckman said Holtz would be an important factor in energizing and creating an exciting corporate culture. Holtz used to be the head coach at the University of Notre Dame for 11 years and of the New York Jets in 1976.
