Direct mail leads Finland's fast growing DM industry
Article Abstract:
Twenty-two percent of promotional and advertising expenditures in Finland is attributed to direct mail efforts to make it the second most popular marketing method nationwide. The advertising in the 100 Finnish newspapers received the highest ranking. The Finnish DMA's president Sakari Virtanen noted that data protection security mandates the sole use of Finnish-based lists in Finland since people for whom the language is difficult may find it hard to translate precisely. The Internet is becoming more acceptable for commercial usage, partly because Finland has the highest per capita usage of online systems in the world.
