US electronic component marketplace opens Munich office

Electronic component online solutions firm Need2Buy.com has set up an office in Munich, Germany to facilitate transactions between buyers and sellers of electronic components. The firm's database has extensive information on electronic equipment vendors and overcome inefficiences encountered by firms relying on phone and fax. Germany was chosen by the firm because of its proximity to Eastern Europe which the firm is targetting as its next market once its Western European ventures become lucrative.

UK Internet payment service opens in New York

Its chargitDIAL product levies per-minute usage fees or fixed payments for online purchases bought with credit cards. On the other hand, its chargitCHARITY product makes it easier to donate money to charity by allowing donors to click a 'payment button' on the non-profit's Website.

Digest deals expand product offerings

Pleasantville, NY-based Reader's Digest Association Inc signed a joint e- commerce agreement with outsourced-services provider StarTrek Inc. The deal will pave the way for the launching of a gift-buying Web site at www.gifts.com before the 1999 Holiday season. A $20-million consumer marketing campaign which will include TV, Internet, print, radio and direct mail promotions will accompany the debut of gifts.com.
