Article Abstract:
Construction companies should undertake a major review of their warranties, contracts, insurances, subcontracts and a technical inquiry of their projects in order to ascertain their legal liability for non-millennium-compliant products. The UK Millennium Conformity Bill indicates failure to sell goods which are non-compliant or to fail to disclose which goods are not compliant could lead to criminal charges. There is some difficulty in determining if products supplied in the past should have been compliant.

Security's safer than houses: construction is unlikely to get much help from the government before the next election
Article Abstract:
The construction industry has been used as the accelerator of the economy for many years, although the government no longer appears to view the industry in this role. The government could help construction by formulating tax breaks which would enable construction companies to become more competitive abroad. The construction industry should lobby for further interest rate cuts.
