Where Vicwardian is culturally oppressive
Article Abstract:
The residents of Saltley, Birmingham, England, have requested that the 34 homes planned for construction under a Single Regeneration Budget scheme have a modern look. This attraction to a modern style, which is usually unpopular among house purchasers, is explained by the fact that more than half of the area's residents are Asian. The Asian community is keen to look to the future, and does not wish to see replicas of the run-down Victorian houses that are to be demolished to make way for the new homes.

Dearth march
Article Abstract:
Many UK architects are growing increasingly concerned about the standard of workmanship on construction sites. Labour shortages in skilled construction trades are likely to worsen, and architects may be forced to make changes to complex designs in order to reduce the use of the more expensive skilled labour. Skilled tradesmen are able to demand very large sums of money, and may be encouraged to move from a site before they have completed a job by the offer of more money on another site.
