Article Abstract:
Ronald Hadlock, former senior program manager of Battelle Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, passed away on Sep 18, 1998, in Vancouver, WA, at the age of 64. His work at Battelle required the management of meteorological field measurement programs. He also served as director of the Office of Naval Research Marine Meteorology Program Accelerated Research Initiative from 1985 and 1990. In this capacity, he was able to work with professors and graduate students from different American universities.

Byron B. Phillips
Article Abstract:
Physicist and mathematician Byron B. Phillips died in Boulder, CO, on Mar 28, 1998 at the age of 74. Among his major accomplishments in the field of meteorology were his operation of the extensive precipitation network and the modernization of the NOAA Research Facility Center aircraft. Towards the end of his life, he was appointed as the manager of the NCAR Research Aviation Facility where he continued his leadership in the field of research aviation.
