'Le Fantome de l'Opera": le charme de la supercherie
Article Abstract:
Gaston Leroux's 'Le Fantome de l'Opera' contains purports to explain the supernatural events of the well-known legend but actually prolongs the mystery of the ghost. Although the narrative is ironic and purports to explain the legend, it also has anti-cultural and non-rational elements which are characteristic of the supernatural tale. The love-dream of the phantom, for example, is portrayed ironically as the dream of a bourgeois marriage. The text of the article is in French.
