Old values reign in Nebraska
Article Abstract:
Nebraska Furniture Mart, founded by Rose Blumkin in 1937, is considered a sensation in midwest retailing for having evolved into the 72-acre campus it presently is. Furniture Mart is comprised of Mrs. B's Basement and the Mega Mart electronics superstore that joined the site in November 1994. Although visuals are high-tech, with a three dimensional retailing space in Mega Mart's space alone, the campus has kept good old fashioned values. Blumkin's belief of selling cheap and telling the truth still holds. Also, though the campus is now owned by the Berkshire Hathaway investment firm of Warren Buffet, the Blumkins have maintained management of its operations.
