Recover industrial gases via adsorption
Article Abstract:
Chemical process industries use temperature-swing adsorption (TSA) and pressure-swing adsorption (PSA) systems to recover industrial gases. Pressure-swing adsorbers can recover oxygen with 90% to 95% purity. The process involves four stages adsorption, depressurization, purging and repressurization. PSA using carbon molecular sieves as adsorbent is used to recover nitrogen. Cryogenic fractional distillation of air is used to produce about 85% of oxygen, argon and nitrogen and almost 100% of xenon, krypton and neon. Gases produced by this process is purified using either TSA or PSA or a combination of both.

Refiners get cracking on petrochemicals
Article Abstract:
Refiners find enhancements of fluidized catalytic crackers (FCCs) a big boost to improving production of light olefins from heavy crude oils. FCCs are enhanced with new reactor components to help refiners boost yield and unit output. The market for FCCs has also prompted refiners and engineering and construction firms to launch their own FCC process technology that stresses olefins production.
