Application of a simulation methodology to the redesign of a logistical control system
Article Abstract:
The dynamic characteristics of a logistical control system was described using a methodology involving systems modeling media that include conceptual, mathematical and computer simulation models. The methodology was created to analyze and formulate a redesign of the logistical systems. Such system redesign fostered performance improvements as predicted by the simulation. Also, it was found that it is essential to integrate generic spreadsheet packages with discrete event packages.

Supply chain design and analysis: models and methods
Article Abstract:
Multi-stage models involved in the design and analysis of supply chain can be divided into four categories, namely deterministic analytical models, stochastic analytical models, economic models and simulation models. In stochastic analytical models, at least one unknown variable exists and is assumed to undertake a specific probability distribution. In deterministic analytical models, variables are known and specified.

Systems design of a two-echelon steel industry supply chain
Article Abstract:
The derivation of a model of a supply chain in the steel industry using the tools of systems engineering is undertaken to better illustrate the supply behavior and inventory management processes. The model considers attitudinal, technological and operational factors. Simulation tests using a breakdown scenario were applied to find out the optimal policy to adopt towards a minimum reasonable inventory level.
