Conflict management training for today's engineering managers
Article Abstract:
Conflicts are natural outcomes of organizational management. To determine the deeper implications of conflicts, a training module in a state department of transportation was set-up. From the experiment, it was determined that the traditional role of the manager in conflict resolution is changing with the continuing social and technological changes and the dissolution of the line and staff manpower distinction. Other findings include the situational and emotional nature of conflicts, and the effectiveness of training in terms of relevance and mutual recognition.

I don't believe in change just for the sake of change
Article Abstract:
The engineering and construction industry is constantly being reshaped by changes taking place in competition, technology, customers, workforce and contract delivery systems. Managers should keep with these changes in to better serve their customers. Barriers to these changes can be addressed through continuous process improvement and total quality management. However, it should be remembered that changes should be made based on honesty and integrity, not for selfish and superficial reasons.
