Article Abstract:
The European Union is interested in spatial planning and inter-regional collaboration. Local authorities are now being affected by TERRA and INTERREG IIC spatial planning projects with ten UK authorities involved. TERRA and INTERREG encourage a concise outlook to spatial planning, thus leading to the establishment of European Spatial Development Perspective.

Article Abstract:
European Union member states are planning to establish the European Spatial Development Perspective, a loose framework of general planning principles, which is expected to be finalised in 1997. It aims to bring spatial dimension to European policies and will influence EU spending on planning related activities.
