Mechanical and electrical contractor Balfour Kilpatrick has faced significant challenges with electrical work relating to the refurbishment of the Royal Opera House in London, England. This facility, which is actually eight connected buildings, is supplied with 3.8 MW of power on two feeds from separate local electricity substations. There will be dual supplies to emergency services such as fire alarms, and some services will have internal battery back up. Existing light fittings in the auditorium have been refurbished, with fluorescent fittings all using high frequency control gear.

A recent client was automobile manufacturer Daewoo which needed help to reach a tight deadline for the launch of a major concept car, the Mirae, in Seoul. 3D Scanner experts visited Daewoo's Worthing Technical Centre and scanned the exterior of the car in 12 hours, providing a complete surface file within a week.

Mechanised ramp loads faster than lifts
Article Abstract:
The development of a mechanised ramp for lifting patients into ambulances, by Glide Rite, UK, is discussed. The system makes use of a folding ramp fitted with a motorised chain or belt and is capable of pulling up to 425kg.
