Lawful fire detection
Article Abstract:
All new buildings, including houses must be fitted with mains powered smoke detectors. Ionisation alarms detect smoke from fast flaming fires and are best used upstairs in houses. Optical alarms are better at detecting slow, smouldering fires and are recommended for use downstairs. Detectors should be positioned in the centre of a ceiling, away from draughts. They should not be installed in kitchens, bathrooms, garages and boiler rooms.
