Article Abstract:

The energy needs of modern society make the development of alternative energy sources necessary. Solar energy is an acceptable source for United States water and space- heating. The adoption of new technology includes awareness, interest, evaluation, trial and adoption. Solar technologies are explored in the light of innovative characteristics. Results of a survey of the active solar industry are reported. Performance so far has not been encouraging. Recommendations to remedy this are made. Tables and graphs are given.
