Shock tactics: the protection of equipment from large power surges is of vital importance. Grounding systems aim to safely disperse such a surge without causing injury to personnel or damaging equipment and property
Article Abstract:
Grounding systems aim to safely disperse power surges and provides protection for generators, substations, lightning protection systems and computers. To select a grounding site, the surrounding earth should undergo a soil resistivity test. This is followed by a measurement of ground resistance, to test the ground connection to earth. Three pole ground resistance testing measures ground and ground dissipation of ground systems, and selective clamp-on ground resistance testing measures the resistance of individual ground electrodes. Stakeless testing is useful in most multiple earth systems but needs more than one earth on the system.

Why a change in image is vital
Article Abstract:
Electrical contractor GK Group believes in moving into new market areas and established GK Data Services Ltd in autumn 1991 following a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) exercise undertaken to examine ways of improving and expanding the group. GK Data Services complements the data cabling system design and installation service offered by other GK Group companies by providing a complete, independent Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) design service. GK Group has also taken steps to update the image it presents to present and future clients.

The framework for change
Article Abstract:
A report by Sir Michael Latham on the U.K. building industry suggests that a 30% reduction in capital costs should be achieved by the end of the decade. The Construction Industry Board's Working Group 11 has been given the task of delivering guidelines for how such cost-savings could be achieved. An outline of the working party's recommendations is presented.
