Managing compost liquor from windrows
Article Abstract:
The problem of dealing with runoff from windrows that composting liquor forms resulting in accumulation of contaminants in a storage lagoon are discussed. The findings indicate that the oversize biofilter is capable of producing an effluent that could in theory be discharged to a watercourse if measures are taken to control suspended solids and polish occasional ammonia peaks.
