Recycling food scraps into high end markets
Article Abstract:
A new method of converting waste into animal food is fast catching on at many places in North America. Tom Peters in Denver, Colorado started a company for this purpose and uses industrial waste that is not hazardous and has developed food processors that transform polluted bacterial food and canned goods into good grade feed for animals. Many companies have come forward to develop machines, some of which can even separate the food material from their cans or glass containers, which can also be recycled.

The private side of the far side
Article Abstract:
An editor notes that there are many private firms that are successfully creating the paths that will enable waste to be converted to useful resources or are exploring opportunities based on sustainable methods. He considers as especially very promising those private enterprises involved in organics recycling but notes that there are others that are making successful business connections to the natural world, and, in so doing, are contributing to a more sustainable earth.

A new heap for 1993
Article Abstract:
The composting and recycling industries view Pres Clinton's appointment of Carol Browner to head the EPA as a refreshing change in the White House. Browner is a dyed-in-the-wool environmentalist who represents the view that both economic development and environmental protection can be achieved at the same time whichis the exact opposite of the Bush Administration's. Her previous working relationship with VP Al Gore is expected to move things up and eliminate red tape.
