Risk of BSE in food residuals compost is "remote"

Bovine sponiform encephalopathy (BSE) primarily affects cattle, causing a characteristic loss of brain, erratic behavior and eventual death. BSE has occurred primarily in United Kingdom and to a much lesser degree in other European countries.
