Safety at composting facilities
Article Abstract:
A growing number of composting and wood processing sites are implementing safety programs as part of facility management. Accident prevention programs are emphasizing the use of safety and protective gears such as hard hat, seat belt, ear plugs and dust masks. Employee training programs have also started including safety training topics such as Lockout/Tagout/Blackout procedures for various equipment. Some facilities have also installed sprinkling systems to reduce dust. Employees are also being informed about the importance of equipment operator manuals.
