Split body trucks carry their weight
Article Abstract:
Both the Lisbon, IA-based Freiburger Waste Services and the city of Olympia, WA's public works department found their solid waste collection tasks easier with the purchase of split-body trucks. To facilitate its co-collection task of recyclables and trash, Freiburger bought an FL80 Freighliner truck equipped with a Labrie Expert 2000 packer body, which is split 50/50. On the other hand, Olympia's split front loaders have a Wittke body atop a Crane Carrier Chassis that cost $170,000 each. Despite the trucks' respective disadvantages, both Freiberger and Olympia found these vehicles to be relatively effective in collecting solid trash.

T.K. Worm Factory is company established by Travis Bruce and his mother Paula to raise worms and sell worms. They also market worm eggs and castings by mail order. The Bruces started in the business as a hobby when they used worms to compost their household food residuals. Travis later learned that there was money in worms and their castings while Paula was able to acquire valuable advice from UNCO, a firm which offers consultations to worm growers and sells start-up equipment. Their worms are sold mostly to fishermen and homeowners who conduct vermicomposting inside their homes.
