When a violent storm hits a community

Sandusky, OH, was hit by a tornado in Jul 1992. The storm left an overwhelming amount of damage in the form of broken trees, shattered roofs and knocked-down power lines. Since this was the first time the community experienced such situation, the residents did things in the wrong way. According to sanitary engineer Jack Myers maintaining communication with the residents is the most vital thing in cleanup operations after a disaster. He added that the cleanup plan should include designated collection areas for debris, identification of workers and the proper handling of broken trees.

Turnaround in the poultry industry
Article Abstract:
A report published in 1992 by University of Delaware's Research and Education Center poultry scientist George Malone and other researchers bared the possibility of having a potential oversupply of chicken manure. Sussex County, DE, which is the largest producer of broilers in the US, facesthe problem of surplus chicken manure diposal.Statistics show that only 10% of the manure can be spread on croplands since this lands have become scarce. The report recommends alternative ways such as making pelletized fertilizer and feed.
