Survey finds variety of structures
Article Abstract:
The 1996 biosolids composting survey by 'Biocycle' magazine shows the existence of a variety of structures at different composting facilities. Twenty four of the 25 in-vessel composting facilities surveyed had enclosed buildings. About 16 of these had some enclosed facility for feedstock receiving and mixing. Only 29 of the 45 aerated static pile facilities had structures. Twenty one of these had structures for feedstock receiving and mixing. Only five of the 25 windrow facilities had enclosed facilities.
