Making inroads with biosolids compost
Article Abstract:
AllGro, a compost marketing concern, has seen a significant rise in demand for biosolids compost. It mainly markets compost from IPS agitated bay composting plants designed by Wheelabrator Water Technologies, its parent company, but also supplies services to other composting facilities. It anticipates that it will market more than 140,000 cu yds of compost from nine biosolids composting facilities in 1997. This volume is forecast to reach more than 220,000 cu yds in 1998.

Automatic microsorting for mixed plastics
Article Abstract:
Automatic plastics separation can be achieved at the macro, micro or molecular levels. Macro separation involves processing entire containers. Micro separation focuses on ground mixed plastics. This method includes froth flotation, density separation and color sorting. Chemical or molecular separation breaks down materials to an atomic level, ready for processing. Under this method are repolymerization and hydrocarbon recycling.
