Transmission line project connects abandoned well to existing mains

Rural water utility Stucker Fork Conservancy District of Indiana has tapped Midwestern Engineers of Loogoote, IN, to develop a possible source of water supply to boost its resources. The engineering firm developed a 20-mile transmission main project which connects an abandoned high- capacity field well to existing water mains. Sedam Contracting of Hanover, IN, has been awarded the contract with its $3.2-million bid, which will use ductile iron pipe. The pipeline was finished ahead of schedule.

A big solution in a rural setting
Article Abstract:
The Chester Water Authority has completed the Kelton Pennock Pumping Station in New London Township, Chester County, PA. The state-of-the-art water system is equipped with three variable speed drive, 30-million- gallons-per-day horizontal centrifugal pumps. The station is twin to another existing in-line transmission pumping station located 10 miles away on the 30-mile transmission line. Consulting engineering firm Gannett Fleming Inc was tapped to design the pumping station.
