Perez resigns from Nike: Former CEO leaves company over differences with founder
Article Abstract:
William D. Perez, CEO of Nike Inc. and its board of directors mutually agreed to end Perez's relationship with the company, without cause, citing differences regarding leadership between Perez and Philip H. Knight, Nike's founder and board chairman. In an interview, the former CEO cited overinvolvement by Mr. Knight, disagreement over Perez's push to sell Nike at lower prices in midtier stores, and a conflict between using data versus 'feel' or 'judgment' in decision-making as factors that led to his resignation.
