The year ahead: Slower growth, higher interest rates, and moderate inflation is projected
Article Abstract:
Businesses and consumers are likely to face a mixed economic outlook in the 2005, as most forecasters are projecting slower growth, higher interest rates and moderate inflation. The US economic growth is expected to slow to between 3.5 percent and 4.1 percent due to moderate consumer spending, a budget deficit representing five percent of total gross domestic product and the depreciation of the dollar.

Falling dollar, stable interest rates dampen hopes
Article Abstract:
Overseas economic prospects and higher yields on assets trading in other currencies depreciated the U.S. dollar against the euro and other major currencies. This is expected to further depreciate the U.S. dollar in the year 2007, which has positive effects on the domestic economy and also on export-oriented companies, which would be more competitive in international markets.
