Influence of older siblings on initiation of sexual intercourse
Article Abstract:
Research confirmed the hypothesis that older siblings influence the timing of sexual intercourse initiation in younger siblings due to their influence in determining the younger siblings sense of self. The research involved interviews with 183 pairs of siblings and a parent of each pair. The influence of the older sibling appears to be due to the effects of comparison. However, the older sibling effect does not have as great an influence on timing of sexual initiation as do parental effects, including communication about sex. The gender of the older sibling is also an important factor.

Premarital sexual aggressors: a multivariate analysis of social, relational, and individual variables
Article Abstract:
Survey responses of 380 heterosexual males and 241 heterosexual females were analyzed to determine the relationships between individual, relational, and peer-level variables. The study, which was based on the social learning theory, found that sexual aggression was more prevalent in men's compared to women's dating relationships. The multivariate analyses showed positive correlation between relationship conflict and premarital sexual aggression for both sexes. For the male subjects, premarital sexual aggression had a strong correlation with acceptance of rape myths.
