Marital conflict about the division of household labor and paid work
Article Abstract:
The division of household labor incites marital conflict more often than the issue of paid work. Wives' dissatisfaction plays a vital role in conflicts about the division of household labor, as husbands' spending less time in housework causes dissatisfaction among wives. The time spent by husbands doing paid work is the main issue in conflicts about paid work. Both husbands and wife prefer that husbands should spend less time for paid work. Factors, such as workplace demands, also influence conflict about paid work. Conflict behavior affects gender role changes during transition to parenthood.

Racial and ethnic differences in girls' sexual, marital, and birth expectations
Article Abstract:
Five hundred seventy four girls from four public junior high schools in South California were interviewed to determine the racial and ethnic differences in the sexual, marital and birth expectations of girls. The results suggested that young women from different races and ethnic backgrounds schedule their life course events in different sequences depending on their timetables and independent of socioeconomic conditions. The Hispanic subjects preferred swift transitions at a young age, while Southeast Asians preferred slower transitional periods at a later age.
