Spending time with his kids: effects of family structure on fathers' and children's lives
Article Abstract:
A study reveals the significance impact of family type on the interactive nature of the father-children relationship and the children's academic performance. Fathers in different family settings, such as single-father families, two-parent families, and mother-stepfather families, spend different amounts of time with their children. The family type and the level of interaction between the father and the children influences the children's grades. However, the effects of the family structure on the children's grades is independent of the amount of time spent by fathers with their children.

Medicine and the Family: A Feminist Perspective
Article Abstract:
Lucy M. Candib's book "Medicine and the Family: A Feminist Perspective," presents a critique of the role of the medical profession in family health care in the context of male-gendered medical practices. The book analyzes the traditional relationship of medicines to male outlooks and experiences. The male viewpoints traditionally dominate the females who are associated with family commitments and productive status. Candib calls for equality in power relationships between doctors and patients. The author proposes a relatedness in gender and profession in clinical work.

Family "decline" and child well-being: a comparative assessment
Article Abstract:
Child well-being is largely unaffected by the negative impacts of family decline. However, family decline greatly influences child well-being in societies adhering to traditional family patterns. In non-traditional families, state social policies play a significant role in child welfare during family decline. A study of family decline and child well-being in Sweden, Italy, the former West Germany, and the United States, shows that Italy ranks lowest in family decline and scores in child well-being.
