Article Abstract:
A strain of CJD affecting a younger population than the known form showed up in the UK in 1996. It is suspected to be caused by eating BSE-contaminated beef before meat-and-bone-meal feed was banned in 1990. Links from BSE to transmissible spongiform encephalopathies in other species have been proven.
